the start of something new?
I actually felt pretty excited about blogging this entry. Partly because I haven’t been doing so for quite a while and it’s time to start updating what has been happening in my life. Also, I am going to set new directions for myself.
Well, I think Singaporeans are an unsatisfied lot. They are always complaining about everything, even down to the minute nonsensical things that you can ever think of. And at the end of the day, they are still unhappy. I am not saying that I do not complain at all. Just like any other Singaporean, I do as a matter of fact. But somehow or rather, I began to change my perspective on things.
Right now, I can say I am pretty contented with what I am doing. Just started about 2 wks plus into my new job at Raffles Place at a conference company, and so far I’ve been doing research on my business topics as well as sourcing for speakers. I must say it is a very different environment compared to Mt Faber. The happening people are atop the hill and gathered here is the fast-paced and busiest lot. In my company, everyone works very individually. But when they gather together for chit-chats, they are pretty fun and sociable in their own way too. As for my work, it is kind of dry indeed but I am starting to get the hang of it. It’s unlike me to be able to sit in front of the computer for 8-9 hours just doing research and searching for speakers. Honestly, there were a couple of times where I fell asleep at my desk and I am very sure my boss saw me. But to stay awake, I had to walk around, to the ladies and get myself a cup of coffee. Right, so much for work. So what else is happening in my life?
I was chatting with this colleague of mine and realized she is doing her part-time Masters and working at the same time. I know there are many people out there doing the same as well. I really admire her for her courage and perseverance. To me, I will definitely choose to study full time if I were to take Masters. Of course, it is not impossible to study and work simultaneously, but it is lots of hard work and effort indeed. It just suddenly dawned on me that I shouldn’t be wasting my time just slacking around at home and watching tv. I should really start putting my time into good use. When I am like in my 60s or 70s, I want to look back on yesteryears and be glad that I have led a fulfilling life.
Well, I am happy that I’m in this line right now, that I am able to meet speakers and people from all over the world, and be able to learn something valuable from them. There’s just so much to learn out there and it shouldn’t just stop at our workplace. And that is why I have decided to start visiting the library, to either spend some time there or borrow the books home. Yea, don’t be shocked. PJ is going to the library. Haha. I just feel that I am inadequately equipped with knowledge and I want to gain more of it. Be it to enrich myself, to help people or be able to carry conversations with people, I want to learn more things that are happening around the world. Gotta spend my time more wisely now. Apart from reading up, to put in place would be my regular exercises at Amore with my dear gals. That is something we have been procrastinating and postponing our classes due to work. Now that my twin has jumped on board, we will make it a point to go every week. Suddenly, I feel motivated. Haha. On my cards right now – Regular exercising, reading, eat healthily, church work, career and of course quality time with family and friends. Maybe I should find a regular weekly sport too.
Alrighty! so much for a long update.. looking forward to a healthy lifestyle! =D
